Big Al Muskavito

Email:
“Big Al” Muskavito joined “The Dick Purtan Show” when Dick went on the air at 104.3 WOMC on April 15, 1996.
Though “Big Al” had no prior broadcast experience, he quickly developed a flair for journalism, including a unique brand of interviewing. Today, Mr. Muskavito continues to interview news makers on local, national and international levels. Notable interviews have included “Fergie” the Duchess of York, Christie Brinkley, Katie Couric, Peter Jennings, Drew Carey, the Three Tenors, and Moon Yi from Wong’s Chinese Carryout on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak.
Big Al has also had the privilege of performing live on stage with Gladys Knight and Harry Belafonte. (Really, he was invited on stage, it wasn’t some breakdown in security.)
Unlike many journalists today, Mr. Muskavito believes that once a journalist establishes credibility, “There’s nothing wrong with making up facts for a story, especially under the difficult time constraints of live radio.”
In just a few years at 104.3 WOMC, “Big Al” has gone from being a novice journalist to WOMC’s Entertainment Editor, Business Editor, Health and Fitness Editor.
Big Al, along with WOMC’s late Sports Director Mark “Doc” Andrews, was also a member of the morning show’s sports team, eating team, and the latino singing group “Los Dockers el Grande” (translation: large pants).
Big Al Muskavito can be heard on the Dick Purtan and Purtan’s People Show on 104.3 WOMC weekdays between 5-10 a.m. and Saturdays from 6 – 10 a.m. As one of “Purtan’s People”, Big Al performs any number of voice impersonations including former President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, Dr. Phil from the Oprah Show, as well as a host of voice characterizations for a variety of comedy sketches.
