Hey there, I'm Scott Moore.
This is a true life statement and will self destruct in 15 seconds...
I began my interest in radio when I was or 8 and decided I wanted to be that man on the radio. So I begged my mom and dad to buy me a record player, a Sears Silvertone. And of course, weekly visits to Kresge, Crowley's, the dime store and yes, even the grocery store back then you could get 45's in large bags of potato chips. These records weren't the hits but hey, I could play 'em and my friends and I would decide if we liked them. If not, it would become the new Frisbee.
So as time went on my attaction to radio was everything I lived for. I would call all the DJ's and get to know them and ask questions, and then get up the nerve to see if I could come by the station and meet them and see them work on the air. Once I stepped into a radio station it was then I knew... yup, this is for me. Playing records, talking on the mic and the phone, and I got payed to do this! How incredible!
I went to Specs Howard School of Broadcasting. My first paying job was WDRQ in 1978. It was a Top 40 station, and then soon changed to Disco. After that I needed to get more air time so I moved up north to West Branch and worked at WBMI. From there it was on to Saginaw for 8 years, 1 at WKNX and 7 at WKCQ. I did overnights and evenings. But my goal was the Big D!
After sending out countless tapes and resumes, I got hired at WKSG, Kiss Solid Gold 102.7. After 1 year of overnights, the station changed owners and formats and I was let go. From there I went up to Port Huron, WSAQ/WHLS to work weekends. After a while I went back to Sagiaw to work a 2nd time at WKCQ. Then I got a call from the PD at WIOG in Saginaw. More money, more hours, bigger signal!
I must have been hot property becuase 6 months after I was at WIOG, the PD from WCRZ in Flint called. Said he's been listening and asked, "Hey, wanna work here?" Well, more money, closer to Detroit... Ok, hire me! At that time DaimlerChrysler called to ask if I wanted to work on the line at Dodge Truck in Warren.
I finally got back to Detroit in May of 1999 to work at Detroit's Best Country, 99.5 WYCD. After 5 years I took a job right here at 104.3 WOMC and enjoy playing the greatest hits of the 60's and 70's!
I have 3 adorable cats, Mickey, Vanessa and Jeffrey, and 2 birds, Frosty and Doug. I have my own DJ business, playing at weddings, which also keeps me busy. In my ree time I enjoy just being at home working on cars and listening to my record / CD collection. I also do DJ charity work for Make-A-Wish Foundation and Oakland County Special Olympics; I'm the official DJ.
Ok, so there you have it. Thanks for stopping by. Call me when I'm on the air at 313-298-1043. God bless!
